This 4-star superior hotel was newly opened in 2007, and is housed in a historic building, a former 19th century water tower, in the Sternschanzenpark, one of the most vibrant districts of central Hamburg.

Savour the natural parkland tranquillity surrounding the Mövenpick Hotel, whilst enjoying the convenience of being just 300 metres from the congress centre, and 5 minutes from the centre of town by public transport.

An S-Bahn (city-rail) and U-Bahn (underground) station is right outside the hotel, while Hamburg’s Dammtor ICE train station is just a short walk away.

Unwind in the hotel’s spa and fitness area, enjoy first-class cuisine in the restaurant and marvel at the view of the park from the hotel terrace.

Hotel information

The hotel boasts several unique features, including a 60-metre high tower with brick architecture typical of northern Germany, and an underground escalator which transports guests to the centre of the tower.

There is an in-house spa and fitness centre with a sauna and relaxation room, solarium, revitalising spa shower and several fitness machines.

Children are most welcome at the hotel. The hotel tries to meet any requests, from art sets to bathing accessories and toys. It also offers a special children's menu. On request the hotel can arrange a babysitter for you.

Food & beverage

The non-smoking Mövenpick Hotel Restaurant is open all day and offers classic Swiss cuisine as well as regional and international specialities.

The adjoining terrace offers a particular sense of flair and a wonderful view of the park thanks to its panoramic windows.

The breakfast buffet is available until 14:00 at weekends.

The trendy Cave Bar is decorated with red brickwork and located in the vaulted cellar of the historic towers. This serves up a wide variety of classic and creative cocktails.

The guest rooms and suites feature a plasma TV and high-speed internet access.

The hotel pays fine attention to detail, for your comfort and well-being. For instance, it provides a selection of pillows, aromatic hot water bottles and even teddy bears.

On request, the hotel can provide you with a room suitable for allergy sufferers or for the mobility impaired.

Area information

The hotel enjoys an ideal urban location right in the heart of the Schanzenviertel and Karolinenviertel areas. These areas were renovated in recent years and have now become some of the most desirable places to live or go out in Hamburg.

There are a whole host of cafés, bars and restaurants around the square on the Schulterblatt where you can relax. There are trendsetting design and fashion shops in Marktstraße. The nearby Grindelviertel area offers cultural activities, including cinemas, theatres and galleries.

The Sternschanzenpark is right on the hotel doorstep, and features theatre performances under a marquis, as well as a summer open-air cinema programme where you can watch cinema classics. Numerous leisure facilities are available, such as boules, frisbee and beach volleyball in the park, jogging or cycling next to one of the many stretches of river or lakes, or swimming in one of the local pools.

especially the design of the hotel-it was very well planned.the breakfast was super.

As I already communicated to the hotel I found the rate for a phone call to Ireland with a unit price of 5 euro per minute a totally excessive price.Very dissappointing especially considering that otherwise everything was so pleasing.

The building is stunning - really tastefully designed. I liked that my bathroom had a window in it!

The room was much smaller than other hotels in the same class band, but they had used the space effectively.

I am used to travel a lot for working reasons. And this Hotel was one of the best hotels where I have ever stayed. This for a mix of comfort, design and luxury. Wonderful the building! Many many compliments!

If I have to find something, I could underline the fact that there was only a limited possibility to fine tune the clima (air conditioning)

the hotel is very nice. The breakfast is really super.
